Canceling groups because of Corona

The board of Dutch Dental Care had to decide to cancel the third group of volunteers.

It has been a difficult decision for us because we are aware that for many volunteers it is a long-held desire to volunteer in Kenya.
Due to the Corona virus, situations change so quickly that we cannot currently guarantee a safe journey and working conditions, which is our priority.

The volunteers haven been informed today.

Dental Teams

Twice a year, DDC sends dental teams to school in southern Kenya. A team consists of several dentists, dental surgeons, dental assistants, dental hygienists and helpers (dental background not required) Team members are volunteers who pay for their own travel costs. They regularly look for sponsors to cover these costs.

The schools use our teams to have all pupils checked and treated. Teachers and community members from the area can also use our free care. We use the DDC prevention programm in the schools. This is a pleasant and educational programm to teach the children how to brush their teeth. We also explain what the treatment by the dentists entails and the impact of nutrition on the teeth. We take into consideration local habits and Kenyan culture.
